As Chairman of the House Commerce Committee, Andy Meisner has been a leading voice for entrepreneurship and small business creation as a way of helping Michigan diversify its economy. He's also been a leading voice for stem cell research, foreclosure prevention and mental health reform.

Elected in 2002, Andy Meisner began his political career as a Legislative Assistant for U.S. Congressman Sandy Levin. He was responsible for policy relating to crime, community-oriented policing, community coalitions, drug courts, unemployment compensation, and foreign affairs including the Middle East. Andy also is co-founder of the Michigan Democratic Action Network, a grassroots organization with members in Michigan and Washington, D.C., that works to engage young adults in the political process.

Andy served as Vice President of a national, non-proft in D.C., and as Corporate Communications for a Detroit-area real estate developer.

Andy has an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from University of Detroit-Mercy.

He lives in Ferndale with his wife, Johnna.
